taking in the view - 2012.01.16

All religions will pass,
but this will remain:
simply sitting in a chair and looking in the distance.

Vasily Vasilievich Rozanov

one of the perks of working in a high rise office is, of course, the view.

when you're having a tough day -- and i mean tough: everything is broken, your phone is ringing off the hook, you've missed 5 of your 4 deadlines, the espresso machine has conked out and nearest starbucks is 5 blocks away, and guys in your team are either calling in sick or falling over dead at their desks and it's just 9:20 am on a monday, the week before christmas -- sometimes the best thing you can do (aside from turning in your papers) is to take a second to take a breather to take in the view.

the only thing better than taking in the view for a few seconds (as the sound of your boss's voice calling you into his office fades mercifully into an inaudible whisper in the background), is taking a picture of the view that you are taking in.

and the only thing better than taking a picture of the view from your desk, is taking a picture of a beautiful sunset, as your day finally ends and you, at last, are trying to find your way home.
